Product Details

Agilent's kits and reagents for sample isolation offer a straightforward method for delivery of intact, high-purity total RNA for use in gene expression and other downstream analyses. The kits use a spin-column format that delivers significant reduction of genomic DNA contamination (compared to silica-based kits) without the use of DNase, and are more user-friendly than conventional DNAse-based methods.
Compatible with a broad range of working sample quantities (2.5-30 mg of tissue or 5 x 105 – 1 x 106 cells), our kits offer a simplified procedure that delivers up to a 1,000-fold reduction of genomic DNA contamination in as little as 20 minutes. The kits also offer the flexibility of compatibility with a wide range of plant and animal sample types, including plant fibrous samples, yeast, and bacteria.

Figure 1. Final total RNA yield (in µg RNA per mg) from various mouse tissues.
Total RNA was isolated from several frozen mouse tissues in parallel using the Agilent Total RNA Isolation Mini Kit and a commercially available silica column-based kit from a leading supplier. Final RNA concentration was determined by A260 absorbance and corrected for genomic DNA (gDNA) contamination.

Figure 2. Analysis of genomic DNA (gDNA) content of total RNA isolated from mouse spleen (upper panel) and pancreas (lower panel).
Total RNA was isolated from and pancreas using the Agilent Total RNA Mini Kit and a commercially available silica-based kit from a leading supplier. gDNA contamination was measured using real-time PCR utilizing GAPDH-specific primers for gDNA amplification.
